You need these two things for Longevity & Success in Entrepreneurship.

Navigating the unknown is one of the biggest challenges that we face as entrepreneurs. The unknown is part and parcel of business growth.  As we expand into new territories in our business, as we go for our dreams, we come face to face with more and more unknowns.

2020 has sure tested us on how well we handle the unknown.

We may find ourselves wanting to exert more discipline and routine as a way to get a sense of being in control.
We may find ourselves feeling listless, restless and unable to make long term goals as we don’t know what will happen in the future.

But you know what?

We NEVER know what is going to happen in the future. Ever.

We never know what is going to happen in the future. Ever.

Now is a great opportunity to learn how to embrace the unknowns.  100% embodying this ability to let go and surrender.

Before we go any further, I want to clear up what surrendering really means. Surrender doesn’t mean giving up. It means letting go of the struggle, the expectations and being with what is.

Surrender doesn’t mean giving up. It means letting go of the struggle, the expectations and being with what is.

A common misconception is that when we surrender we also have to stop. But this isn’t the case.

You can still make progress and goals for your business, but only after you have surrendered to what is.

Making plans from a place of surrender should have these qualities:

  • Make plans and be ready for them to change if need be

  • Let go of any expectations of how you think it should pan out.

  • Allow yourself to feel into your intuition and the KNOWLEDGE from your higher self, that knows exactly what needs to be done now and what needs to be left until later.

This all takes practice of course, and if you are new to the concept of surrender, it can be bloody frustrating.

But surrendering gives us an opportunity to pause, assess and adapt. And the better you get at doing this, the longer you will stay in this entrepreneurial game.

This is a time of transformation in all areas of our life, including our business.

From a business viewpoint, if you want to realise that big dream, you have to get comfy with navigating the unknown and be willing to transform.

If you want to realise that big dream, you have to get comfy with navigating the unknown and be willing to transform.

So, let’s start with an honest look at ourselves. Ask yourself:

“How comfortable am I at navigating the unknown?”

“What do I need to transform or adopt in order to ride this wave more easily?”

Here are a few tips to help you navigate the unknown:

  • Work on your emotional resilience to change

  • Listen to how you think and say about the unknown and/or transformation and invite in more curiosity and a sense of adventure

  • Maintain a childlike and playful ENERGY.  Joy is one of the highest energies to help you move through changes with more ease

  • Practice being spontaneous and living with no expectations.  Take a random trip somewhere, make a last minute plan, walk another route instead of your usual.  Practicing and embodying the ability to change allows our nervous system to be more relaxed in times of change

  • Find out the best self-care practices for YOU during times of change.  What supports you to be your best?

  • Get a supportive team behind you.  I cannot stress this ENOUGH!  This entrepreneurial journey can be bloody lonely! Get some peeps who you can rely on to be there when you need them!

A reminder that The Universe has up it’s sleeve “this or something better” BUT this turns up only when we let go!

The Universe has up it’s sleeve “this or something better” BUT this turns up only when we let go!

And also, remember everyone has their own set point of comfort. Don’t judge where yours is!

This is why it’s so important to follow our own path and accept where we are.

This is why it’s so important to not compare ourselves to others.

This is why it’s so important to find ourselves and allow ourselves to fully embrace our most authentic selves – who we are and how we function – so we can compassionately make change on our terms.

Guaranteed, when you have ALL of these components in place, facing the unknown becomes so much more easy, even, dare I say it – fun! And your ability to weather the storm of change, becomes easier and less rocky!

Go well Adventurers – this entrepreneurial journey is definitely not for the faint-hearted!
