Stop distracting yourself and thrive!

DISTRACTION. It comes in many forms and even in things we deem as “positive” – (over) socialising, taking care of others incessantly, being “busy” all the time, travelling, work, exercising… as well as “negative” distractions – drugs, alcohol etc… countless ways to distract ourselves from our SELF.


When was the last time that you took the time to focus inward and look at the internal world of yourself? When you take away all the distractions and you sit in the noise of your thoughts, what do you feel? Is it happiness and Joy? Is it sadness and anger?


This is one of the most important things that I have learnt to cultivate a Joyful existence and a dream-filled, motivated, enthusiastic life. It is imperative for your own personal growth and satisfaction of life, that you take time to assess what’s really going on. Awareness is your friend! It gives you the opportunity to CHANGE your vibe, bring yourself up and really start living a life full of amazingness!

Now go forth and conquer!

  1. Definately by calling up another friend, thinking myself lonely or bored but no just avoiding having a good hang session with myself. Also TV, i love movies & sometimes its a treat but i need to take the time out to realise if i am having a relaxing treat night with a movie or am i trying to distract from the feelings from my day…?

    1. Absolutely Jae, that’s such a good idea. Just taking a moment to check in with yourself to see if it’s a treat or a distraction will help so much! And even then if you choose to go with the "distraction" you have strengthened your ability to be aware and your ability to choose. Arohanui xx

  2. By getting sucked into advertisements and promotions on my P.C! If Im emailed an offer of things like sign up for free with … I often waist time by falling into the trap , getting almost completed then almost always pulling out when I thankfully decided I dont need it!

    1. I know what you mean Belinda! It’s so good that you are aware now, which will help you be pulled less and less into that distracting place. From here it could be good to just notice what you feel in your body and mind when you are being distracted. Also it can be good to be clear and aware as to what it is that you want to do while you are on the computer…is what you are doing, helping to bring you closer to your goal or further from it? A good lesson of life really isn’t it? Arohanui x
